Glen Seator: Making Things Moving Places

v2 / Transitional Years, 1990–91

The most essential architectural structure I use is a sort of T shape. From there, I make choices about the line of sight, about mapping points of the body. The work functions as mirrors in some way. They’re concretizations of what the viewer is doing in the room – standing, looking and facing the wall. The work can be seen both as microcosms of the built environment and mediators or guides for the body in the act of looking.

What I’m trying to do now is place very different things together – different kinds of work and different materials. But they’re all generated from the same system. I probably care less about how they look than making them, what happens in the spaces between them, and the intuitive process of placing them.
